Hello friends and crafters! Today, I have a fun and hopefully helpful tip for you on how to resize crochet items you create from patterns, be it clothing, hats, and even amigurumi. Sometimes you’ll find a pattern online, say clothing, and it calls for a specific size yarn, and hook. You try creating it, and somehow the size you created it in, is smaller or bigger than you anticipated. Let me give you a real life example.
A friend of mine found this really cute pattern online, for a really nice halter top. The pattern has various sizes, however, it requires lightweight yarn and a 3.5 mm hook. Once she started creating this item, it turned out to be too small, and she made this in her size. So I gave her a solution, and it’s quite simple. Change the yarn size to a worsted weight yarn, and change to hook size at least half a mm to a mm in size. She finally created her halter top and it fits! She used a worsted weight yarn and a 4.0 mm hook.
Sometimes you need to go one size higher or one size lower, depending on what you are making. This goes for amigurumi items as well. For a larger item, a larger hook and worsted or bulky yarn. You can use cotton, acrylic, wool. It will work. But always pay attention to size, that’s the main key for this to work. I know this is a bit of a short write up but I wanted to share how this works. I hope it does for you, and never hesitate to ask me anything. I’m always here to help.
Happy crocheting!! Have a great day! 🙂
