Spring is here and what better way to add some whimsy to your designs than with cute, mini puff flowers! These are super simple and quick to make. They take less than five minutes to make, and you can make a bunch! Now, on to the pattern!
Materials Needed
- Any size hook works, for this I used a 4 mm (G) hook, a 3.5 mm (E) hook also works well, if you feel saucy you can make large chunky versions too!
- Any type of yarn, light, worsted and bulky
- Yarn needle to sew in ends
Abbreviations
- MC – Magic Circle
- YO – Yarn Over
- CH – Chain
- SLST – Slip Stitch
- FO – Fasten Off
Pattern
An alternative for MC, for those who don’t know how to create a magic circle – Chain 2 and begin the puff stitches in the second chain from hook. The entire pattern is puff stitches into the magic circle.
In MC, CH 1, YO into MC and pull up a loop, 3 loops on hook, YO into MC two more times, you should have 7 loops, YO into MC and pull through all 7 loops, CH 1, and SL ST into the center of MC. Create 4 more puff stitches in the same manner. At the end pull tight to form your flower. FO by CH 1 and cut the yarn, enough to sew in the ends to the back of the flower. That’s it!
Congratulations! You’ve made your first mini puff flower!
For Those Who Don’t Read Patterns
1.) In magic circle (or chain 2 and start in second chain from hook) Chain 1
2.) Yarn over into the magic circle and pull up a loop (3 loops on hook)
3.) Yarn over into the magic circle two more times (7 loops on hook)
4.) Yarn over one more time and pull through all 7 loops on your hook, and that is your first puff stitch
5.) Chain 1, and slip stitch into the magic circle. Continue steps 1 -4, four more times
Fasten off and pull to close, flip over, sew in strings and your flower is ready!
