Amigurumi Heart Pattern

Hello friends and crafters! At the end of January I started creating amigurumi hearts. Would you believe that this is the first time I’ve ever made them. So simple and so fun to make, now I can’t stop! Just look at these!

3D Heart Pattern

Materials Needed

Any hook size works for this project. I used a 3.5 mm hook for most of the hearts. I used a 4 mm hook for a medium heart and a 5.5 mm for a large heart. You can play with hook size, and remember that size depends on the tension you use when crocheting. For large bulky weight hearts use bulky yarn and up to a 9mm hook.

Use any type of yarn or yarn size. Whatever feels comfortable for you to crochet with.

Let’s Begin! This pattern is worked in a round

Make two of these (These are the top of your heart)

R1: Chain 2, 6 single crochet stitches in the second chain from hook (6)

R2: Single crochet twice in each stitch (12)

R3: Single crochet twice in the next stitch, and once in the following stitch (18)

R4 : Single crochet in each stitch around (18)

R5: Single crochet in each stitch around (18)

Fasten off on the first top of the heart, and when you make the second one, DONT FASTEN OFF, as this is where you will be continuing the heart.

R6: Take your first piece and place it against your second piece. Insert your hook into any stitch in the first piece and single crochet, while holding both pieces together, 3 times. So you will basically be doing 3 single crochet stitches, through both pieces. After the third single crochet, you will continue to single crochet for 15 single crochet stitches, around the first piece and once you reach the second piece you will single crochet 15 single crochet stitches, you should have 30 single crochet stitches.

R7: Single crochet in each stitch around (30)

R8: Single crochet 3, and decrease in the next stitch, repeat around five more times (24)

R9: Single crochet in each stitch around (24)

R10: Single crochet 2, and decrease in the next stitch, repeat around five more times (18)

R11: Single crochet in each stitch around (18)

Start stuffing your heart with poly-fil

R12: Single crochet 1, and decrease in the next stitch, repeat around five more times (12)

R13: Single crochet in each stitch around (12)

Add a little more stuffing if needed

R14: Decrease in each stitch (6)

FO

After this I take my yarn needle and weave around each stitch, then I pull closed, and go around the opposite direction. Then I push the needle into the bottom center of the heart, and stuff the remaining yarn into the heart.

I hope this short pattern tutorial allows you to create your own 3D hearts. If you have questions about this pattern, let me know and I’ll be happy to help. Have fun! Have an amazing day and Happy Valentines/Galantines  Day!!
