Beetlejuice Theme Beanie – Easy And Quick Crochet Pattern

Free Patterns

Do you know the movie Beetlejuice? It was one of my favorite movies as a kid and to this day I still enjoy watching it just before Halloween. With the news of Beetlejuice 2, in the works, I decided to design and fun and easy beanie in honor of the movie. I hope you enjoy creating this Beetlejuice themed beanie!

If you’re ready, let’s begin making our Beetlejuice Theme Beanie! You are welcome to create your beanie in any color you wish. This pattern is for personal use only!

Materials Needed

  • Worsted weight yarn in, Spring Green, Medium Purple and Zebra Print yarn,  in Red Heart Yarn. (I used Black Multi, in Mainstays yarn)
  • 5.5 mm crochet hook (Medium to Large)
  • 5.0 mm crochet hook (small to medium)
  • 4.5 mm crochet hook (small)
  • Tapestry needle for sewing
  • Scissors

Abbreviations

  • CH – Chain
  • HDC – Half DoubleCrochet
  • BLO – Back Loop Only

Pattern Gauge

13hdc x 7 rows = 4 inches | This means that every 13 hdc stitches will be 4 inches and every 7 rows will also be 4 inches.

Let’s Begin!

(Fits adult size medium to large)

Chain 47

R1: In second CH from hook HDC in each stitch across (46)

R2: Ch 1, HDC in BLO across (46)

R3-4: Repeat R2 in (Black Multi or Zebra) (46)

R5: Repeat R2, in (Purple or Violet) (46)

R6: Repeat R2, in (Green) (46)

Continue repeating the pattern this way:

3 rows of (Multi or Zebra)

1 Row of (Purple or Violet)

1 Row of (Green)

Repeat for the next 45 rows. Be sure to HDC in BLO until the end

Your last row should end in the color green, which is row 45.

At the end of row 45 you will fasten off your last stitch, leave a long tail for sewing or slip stitching the side of the hat closed.

Fold your hat in half, work only in the front loops. You will sew or slip stitch through the front loops, only. If you slip stitched, be sure to leave a long tail to sew the top of the hat closed.

Working  around the top of the hat, weave around. Once finished pull closed, tightly! You can even add a fun beanie to the hat once you’re done. Sew in the ends, fold your brim, and your hat is ready to wear!

A pom-pom is not required but it would really give this hat an extra something. The easiest way to create one, would be by hand.

  • First cut a long string and place it on the table or area you are working on.
  • Wrap the yarn around your fingers (3 fingers), 50 to 60 times.
  • When finished, cut the yarn again and place your wrapped yarn on top of the working string, on your table.
  • Tie your wrapped yarn in double knots to secure in place
  • Take your scissors and cut around the loops.
  • Now fluff up your pom-pom, you can also continue to cut around the top of your pom-pom until you have an almost perfectly round pom-pom.  Now it’s ready to go on top of your hat!

You can also purchase A set of Clover Pom-Pom Makers or some already made Cute faux fur Pom-Poms!
